BNS in detail
What is BNS
BNS – Bilateral Nasal Specific – refers to bilateral, intranasal cranial mobilisation.
It is a treatment option with few side effects and largely free of complications, designed to apply pressure and relieve tension in the skull bones, sinuses and adjacent areas of the inner skull using balloon-assisted manipulation via the nasal cavities.
BNS could also be described as a specialised form of osteopathic treatment for specific areas of the skull and cervical vertebrae from the inside.
The MNS performed here is a technically modified further development of the balloon system by Dr André Saine, with the same procedure as for BNS (according to Dr André Saine).
Why BNS
All kinds of trauma – such as birth trauma, accidents and falls, sports injuries, various medical procedures or severe emotional trauma – are just some of the causes of chronic damage and malalignment in the musculoskeletal system, particularly in the head and spine.
Does BNS therapy hurt?
During balloon therapy, everyone feels a sensation of pressure in their nose for 1–2 seconds with each application. It’s similar to the feeling of jumping into water from a diving board – so it’s generally perceived as uncomfortable, rarely briefly as painful, and often accompanied by a soft “cracking” sound in the head.
Side effects of the therapy
Side effects are very rare, usually an immediate reaction to the treatment, and subside within 24 hours:
- Nasal congestion and ear pressure similar to that experienced on a plane (common reaction)
- Runny nose and watery eyes
- Short-term pain in the upper jaw/teeth area or temporary headaches
- Rarely, a slight nosebleed (especially in cases of adenoids), which can be easily treated
